Photography Classes and Clubs
Photography
Classes:
Interested in photography but barely
know how to turn on the camera? A photography class or classes may be
just what you need. Many colleges offer photography classes both for
credit and for fun. Some even offer online photography classes.
College classes for credit will be
more demanding and cover more technical aspects than a class offered to
the community for fun and basic knowledge and are generally much more
affordable. Ask your local college if they offer what are usually called
continuing education or enrichment classes. Beginning photography is one
that is often offered. Be sure to ask if online photography classes are
on option if you prefer the convenience of online instruction over
classes that you must attend in person.
Classes usually teach such things as
the basic operation of a camera, how to focus, and how to frame your
subject as well as the basics of lighting. Sometimes more advanced
classes are also offered that one can take beyond the basics.

Clubs:
Joining a photography club is
another way to learn more about photography while also enjoying the
company of other photography enthusiasts. Clubs usually are comprised of
people of various skill levels so they give the chance to both learn and
teach. The main benefits of a photography club are:
1. A chance to gain additional
knowledge and practice.
2. New friendships with people with
a like interest
Clubs can range from free or very
inexpensive to those which charge a fairly high membership fee and
require members to have certain equipment, so be sure to check on the
requirements, the type of meetings/ activities available and the price
before joining a club.
