Digital Camera Accessories

 

There are many helpful camera accessories available to make photography more convenient, less time consuming and to aid the photographer with various tasks.

Here are some of the most common and most often purchased camera accessories:

Camera Bags: These are bags for storing your camera and/or lenses and equipment. the come in a variety of materials from soft canvas bags to hard cases. They are also available in a variety of sizes.

Tripods: A tripod is a stand used to hold the camera and keep it still thereby reducing shake to the camera. These range from heavy but well constructed to very light weight.

Waterproof housing: a must for those wanting to do underwater photography or when the camera is often exposed to the elements. This housing keeps the camera from being damaged.

Exposure Meter: Most cameras have build in exposure meters, however, you may want to purchase a hand held type to take readings of the light falling on the subject. Flash meters measure electronic flash exposures. Many hand held meters can measure flash exposures as well as ambient light and indicate the balance between them.

Portable Storage: Portable storage is great for when it is not practical to carry a laptop with you and you need to download your images from your memory card.

Battery Pack: Since digital cameras rely totally on battery power, investment in a battery pack is a smart choice especially if you will be shooting for an extended period of time.
